William Ledingham was also a hand-loom weaver and worked at the loom, in
the early part of the eighteenth (19th ?) century, in Aberdeen, but he
removed to Montrose, at that time a centre of the weaving industry.
There he worked for many years and died in Montrose.

Of his family two sons were sailors or seafaring men, one named WILLIAM
was drowned at sea, as gallant and noble hearted a son of Scotland as
ever walked the deck of a ship. The other sailor brother retired from
active life some years ago. The descendants of William Ledingham and
their family connections still remain in Montrose.
