Notes
30.
Referring to the family of George Ledingham, the American farmer-citizen,
the eldest son, William went to Chicago when about twenty years of age.
After a short stay there he moved to the rising town of Battle Creek,
Michigan, where one of the greatest sanatoriums in the world was
beginning to be built. There he took up residence, married a lady of
that town, and is one of the leaders of the Seventh Day Adventists. He
has now been over fifty years in Battle Creek, with its beautiful
surroundings.
31.
For many years he was the only one of that name in the town, but some
years ago his sister, Mary Ledingham - now Mrs Smith - moved to Battle
Creek with her family, and they have now been joined by their two
brothers, Alonzo and George, from the old New England farms, so there is
now a small colony of the Ledingham family in Battle Creek.
