In politics today, “election” across-the-board means “vote.” Scholars have nonsensically called it “Popular Elections” in order to keep from calling it what it is, namely a gigantically overblown “adultified” version of what all high schoolers know as the POPULARITY CONTEST. Where this PC is perfectly appropriate for the limited and low-impact high school setting where all the voters are adolescents, it is grossly inappropriate for adults. In its natural setting, the election process does not serve to attract only chronic narcisists, whereas in the unnatural setting of politics that’s virtually the only kind of candidate that can possibly win. Politicians are well aware that the “hand that feeds them” is not the presumed voting public but, rather, the minority that is aple to keep them in office via their big money. Hence, those mega-rich ones make up the republic-pretending OLIGARCHY that is presently carrying the USA Oligarchy into their long-awaited Global Oligarchy. The Matthias story reveals the election system which is truly democratic, truly fair to all. How much more democratic is every-age/residence-qualified and non-deferred citizen a first-hand CANDIDATE in every election as opposed to the current system which keeps every citizen a VOTER and thus one giant-step away from being patriotic?

Some years ago I was shown a copy of this article about the Churches Together website I looked after as the CT secretary. It started by describing the struggle to find a church and ended up suggesting that Christians ‘are God’s interface with the world’…

It is so sad to see how the Church of England is being deceived by, and compromising with, Rome. The true faith of Jesus is just that: faith in Him as the only-begotten Son of God, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin that we might be reconciled to God. Roman Catholicism is a religion of works, not faith. You must do this, you must do that, in order to be saved. That is not what Jesus said. He said, “Believe.” Remember from what the Reformation saved us and WAKE UP!!!

Mary Hulbert was a dear friend of mine. Ihave her autobiography intypescript. Wilfred worked on the railways in Swindon as his father had done before training as a methodist minister. Their daughter Catriona could tell you how he came to join the Church of Scotland. Usually when missionaries married the woman joined the husband’s missin. This is therefore exceptional. Mary Hulbert was the granddaughter of K.S MacDonald, a famous pioneer missionary in Calcutta 1861-1898. His papers are in the National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh. Papers concerning Wilfred are in the Methodist Missionary Society, archives, SOAS, London, and available on microfiche. Wilfred died in harness in St Andrews in 1967
Do you know anything about my great grandfather, Revd Ralph Brocas Hunter, who died in Oxford in the 1890s? He was a Methodist minister,

Justin, thanks. Tho of course it is not what it looks like, but what it contains that is important…!

I had hoped for hustings here too, quite enjoyed it last time too; but was outvoted on it.

There are 22 candidates for 8 lay places; 14 for 6 clergy places – ratio of candidates to places about equal 2.4:1. In London it is 5:1 for one of the elections I understand.
